The event was held at Oulton Community Centre, Oulton Broad from midday on Sunday 6th June 1982 and attracted over 80 entries. This was the first Eastern Area Rally held for the Morris Minor Owners Club and the organisers Chris and Carl Smedley were worried that it wouldn’t get off the ground because it was held so far east. But there were entries from all over the country. As well as the Morris Minors on display there were various models, motorbikes, amusements, a display by a local canoe club, charity stalls and refreshments.
A barbecue was held in the garden of the Blue Boar Inn until 3pm and you were to bring your own food which would be cooked for you for the price of 20p. This would then be donated to charity – The Spastics. Chris and Carl had also asked local firms to sponsor the event. They were Norwich Brewery, Mann Egertons, Morris Minor Centre, Kenning Tyres, Practical Classic, Lloyds Bank plc and Lowestoft Exhaust and Brake Centre.
