Norfolk and Suffolk Branch Rally July 2015

We held our 30th Branch Rally on 24th July 2015 at the East Anglia Transport Museum at Carlton Colville near Lowestoft we didn’t have very good weather. Although it didn’t rain until 1pm it certainly made an appearance and didn’t stop until after we left. So we quite understand that four cars didn’t attend the rally. But out of fourteen booked in eleven made the effort to attend, with one turning up on the day.

We all managed to park in the garden at the Museum and members attending could look around the various buildings consisting of displays of shops and workshops and even take a ride on the many trams and buses running, as well as having a warming cup of tea in the cafeteria. There was also a gift shop to browse.

We had a few green Travellers and a few long distance members join us at the Rally. Dave Pittman from the North London and Middlesex Branch came all the way from Ilford in Essex. Dave has been to many of our Branch Rallies in the early days. I believe that I am the only member of the Branch to have attended all thirty Branch rallies – Tricia.

Another long distance member, Gordon Kett, came from West Sussex (although he was staying with his Mother at Lowestoft). Joining us on the day were Ton and Fiene Kolvoort from Holland who had travelled 200 miles. They were in fact here on holiday and staying at a campsite at Halesworth! We even had some members from the Leeds Branch who were visiting the Museum.

At 3pm we had our prize giving and drawing of the raffle. We all managed somehow to get into the Branch tent out of the rain! We had asked two members from the Museum to judge our cars and they chose the following: In first place was one of our new members John Hancock with his white Traveller. In second place were Ton and Fiene with their dark blue Convertible. So well done to you all.

We thank all members who attended the rally despite the rain and we raised £25 on the raffle towards our Charity funds. Members that attended received a certificate as a memento of the day.
