The 52nd Ipswich to Felixstowe Run took place on Sunday 5th May. Nine Iceni Morris Minors and Austin met at Asda Car Park on the outskirts of Ipswich at 9am and then drove in convoy to Christchurch Park and by good fortune lined up in one line among the other 700 entries. The range of entries sets this event apart, as it includes Penny Farthings and Sinclair C5’s to buses and coaches, commercials, military vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and Ford Model T’s to cars built before 1994.
The park was packed with spectators with what is in effect a free show. Vehicles started leaving the park at 11am and progress was slow and it took two hours to reach Felixstowe, waving at crowds that had lined the route. (Our Treasurer Jacky and her husband Brian, amongst them.) A steward from Ipswich Transport Museum escorted us along the promenade through the crowds to our parking spot.
