A month on from the “Beast from the East” and the weather couldn’t have been better for our Drive It Day run. The convertibles amongst our fourteen vehicles, all arrived with the hoods down. We met up at Southwold carpark near the pier for a 10am start off. The run was compiled by Tricia and Jimmy Loades which took in part of the Women’s Cycle Tour of 2016 when they came to our region.

We did see some other cars out and about on Drive It Day and we heard that the Triumph Club had made an epic journey from Holyhead in Wales to Southwold overnight with a run of around 430 miles. They were having breakfast in Southwold on their arrival. Now that is what I call a “Drive It Day” run!

We travelled along the lovely Suffolk countryside and our lunch stop was to be at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton. There were other Club’s at Flixton as part of their “Drive It Day” run. The MG Owners Club were holding an event and over 100 motorbikes were arriving while we were there from the Triangle (Ipswich) Motorcycle Club who were raising money for the Suffolk and Cambridge Blood Bikes.

Some members left us at Flixton and we then headed along the lovely Norfolk countryside to our final destination of Old Buckenham Airfield where we finished up at Jimmy’s Café for a cup of tea. Along the way Tricia and Jimmy had set some clues to look out for, to test the more vigilant members. There were no prizes which was just as well as most people had got them all correct!

We held a pub card draw and the winner was John Green who gave back his winnings – thank you John. We raised another £40 for Norfolk Blood Bikes. Tricia and Jimmy were then given three cheers for the run, so hopefully members enjoyed it!
