A few members made the journey to Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire to attend the MMOC National Rally over the weekend of 21st to 23rd June.  We had a stand on Branch Avenue where we were amongst lots of other Branches of the MMOC from around the country.

We were invited to dress up and decorate a stand in this years theme of TV Programmes. We didn’t decorate the stand but we did fund-raise for the MMOC charity of the Air Ambulance. Branch members took it in turn to walk around the rally field and sell our charity squares.

We usually have a theme for this and this time – you guessed it – it was TV Programmes! 80 of them had Morris Minors appear in them. Once they were all sold we asked the National MMOC Chairman, Andrew Stone, to draw a winning ticket. The winner was one of our own Branch members – Terry Huggins who had chosen “Bullitt”, and yes that does have a Morris Minor in it.

Terry very kindly gave his winnings of £20 back which brought the total raised over the weekend to £109-00. So thanks to Terry. The extra £9 were donations which included one from a gentleman who wanted to sit in Tricia Loades’ Traveller to see if he could fit behind the wheel ahead of buying one. The good news is that he could and he immediately went to join the MMOC. Our £109-00 will be donated to East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Over the weekend some members were able to buy that elusive spare part from the autojumble and spares stalls as well as attend the MMOC annual general meeting. With lots of ring entertainment and a Soapbox Derby for the Branches to take part in there was plenty for all to do.

Lots of the Branches had decorated their stands on Branch Avenue in keeping with the theme which included the Northants Branch who had four Minors from Lovejoy, Heartbeat, Coronation Street and Call the Midwife complete with the various characters waving from the windows. Opposite them were the South Cheshire Branch who had dressed up as Thunderbird characters with two Lady Penelopes.
