1st August 2021 – Southwold Boating Lakes

Branch member Dave Cragie invited the Branch to an event that he was organising at Southwold Boating Lakes. We were able to park right next to one of the lakes and could come and go as we pleased throughout the day. Dave has an interest in stationery engines and also model yachts, so he had also invited along his friends who brought out their engines and models.

We had nine vehicles come and go during the day and the occupants enjoyed fish and chips and ice creams, plus a walk on the pier or into the town. Southwold Pier was very busy and you could also see some people taking a dip in the North Sea. Rather them than me! During the morning the weather was very cloudy but in the afternoon the sun broke through and it got to be rather hot.

Jacky, our Treasurer, celebrated her 70th birthday the day before, so we wished her many happy returns. We managed to fill the rest of our Football Card and raised a further £30 for our charity, East Coast Truckers. The winner of £10 was Lilly Roberts, Steve and Sue’s greyhound.

A number of the public came to look at our cars and Martin’s second hand tool and spares stall proved popular.
