We were to join the Essex Branch at the venue they had found for us, but our usual members found it a bit far. But one of our members, Stephen, joined them at Galleywood Heritage Centre. This is Stephen’s report.
Jackie and I joined the Essex Branch picnic on 19th May at Galleywood Heritage Centre in Chelmsford. It was a lovely summers day and after a very pleasant drive in Rosie, the first of the year and unusually in a southerly direction, as we always seem to travel north on event days. We arrived at midday and was welcomed by the group and sat outside the Horseshoe Tea Room.
There were seven Minors in total with Rosie being the only Traveller amongst a van, several saloons and convertibles. For lunch we sat around a number of tables in a circular format in the shade and put the world to rights and reminisced about time gone by, along with some Minor stories, over some traditional picnic fare and enjoyed the delights of Angela’s delightful homemade baked cakes.
Many thanks to Stephen and Jackie for representing our Branch at the picnic. The featured car was Henry Cooper’s black Series MM saloon which is now owned by his son and grandson.
