Some 18 of us met up at The Woolpack, Fornham St Martin on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds for our traditional New Years lunch. This was a repeat visit to the venue, given that we had a good summers lunch when visiting Fornham Care Home last August. We met in the bar and had a New Year’s drink to celebrate both the passing year of events and to set our minds on what would be the Branch’s 45 operational year and to exchange personal Christmas type news.

We then went in to the private dining room where we were seated for a meal. Some had traditional Christmas Fayre whilst others had selected from the Sunday standard menu, all pre-selected to assist the chef. The meal was served over a period of time and was of varying quality, best remembered for the mince pies and those that were there will appreciate this comment. The meal was in our traditional Christmas spirit as seen from the photographs taken at the table.
