The weather for this event was one of the hottest days we have had so far this year. So hot in fact that a lot of people were may be put off from attending, as usually this event is very well supported. There were the usual stalls, tractor pull and stationery engines as well as the classic cars and lorries. The ring events went on all day and there was a lot on the field to keep everybody busy if they so wished to walk about. A lot of our members had brought their dogs along to the rally and so were trying to find shade under the nearest tree for them.
On the Saturday of the event one of our newer members Nicola Rodwell attended and she also said this day was equally as hot. So in total over the weekend we had thirteen Branch vehicles on display. Also on the rally field we saw a GPO engineers van plus a yellow telephone van and there were one or two other Minors on display.
Our Branch member Audrey Alexander brought her car Meg to the rally and the next week Meg would celebrate her 50th birthday, so Audrey kindly baked a cake and shared it with members. It was very nice too and thank you to Audrey. We managed to fill our pub card we had on the go and the winner was Sian Charlton who won £10, so well done Sian. When we left the rally field we were each given a pen and note pad as a memento of the day and were thanked for staying despite the heat.
