Despite lots of people saying they would be coming along to the picnic, we only had five Morris Minors and one modern car attend at The Oval, Lowestoft. However, we all had a good day and especially so when Martin Wallis cut his birthday cake; Martin’s 65th birthday was the next day. The weather was nice to start with and we enjoyed our picnic in relatively good weather.
By the time most of us had a go at “Pitch and Putt” the weather had started to turn dull. Around 10 of had two rounds of trying to get the ball in the hole with the least amount of hitting it. The winner of our friendly game was John Hancock with the least amount of hitting the ball with Wendy Talbot taking the most. Some members went to visit the Maritime Museum a stroll away from where we were.
With the weather slowly deteriorating further still we moved a short way down the road to the Most Easterly Point where we had a photo shoot with the cars and the circle that is set up there. The circle has directions and the mileage of a lot of places in the world and the UK from Lowestoft. We had a further opportunity for a photo outside the Iceni Marine headquarters.
Thank you to Dick and Wendy Talbot for organising the venue for us.
