10th July 2016 – Branch Picnic

The weather didn’t look very good for our annual Branch picnic at Brandon Road, Barton Mills picnic site. Chris Mitchell was bringing the tent along just in case of bad weather, so we put it up and it did in fact come in very handy. Firstly to cover us from some drizzle and then from some sun. So we had a mixture of both.

The picnic site was not big, but we did manage to fit eight vehicles into our area. Fourteen people came in those vehicles which saw a lot of our newer members and our stalwart members. John and Maureen Barbour made it along to the event and it was nice to see them at an event this year.

Louise and Al Chapman even joined us during the afternoon, having only just come off holiday. We chatted over our lunch about all kinds of subjects and the supply of tea and coffee kept coming. This event has been very popular with our members for catching up with each other and meeting some of our members we seldom see at other events.

To further our funds for Marie Curie, the charity we are supporting this year for the 40th Anniversary of the Morris Minor Owners Club, we held a raffle and raised another £29-00. We are very nearly at our target of £500, which we hope to get to by October.
